3rd Grade Computers

Third graders have had some exciting new adventures with technology this year.  The Chromebooks that have been added are an additional learning tool that are used in the classroom and occasionally in the lab.  Most of the Google applications are similar to Microsoft Office....so this has been an easy transition. We had fun exploring Google drawing and learned from each other..quite interactive. Using the Google drive helps one to stay organized by making folders and these students are learning those skills.

I always love to have the students write and this week they wrote a short paragraph about themselves and added a fun clip art...which we printed.

Have a great weekend.

2nd Grade Computers

Part of the class this week  was spent reviewing the proper ways to care for our computers, laptops, iPads, tablets and any other digital device the students may have.  Each of these tools is expensive, so there was quite a discussion about caring and the consequences of not caring for these items. I even suggested that they were old enough to be in charge of all DVD movies at home--keeping them in their cases when not in use.
The 2nd graders like to write about themselves, so after  opening  Google docs, the students  wrote a healthy paragraph about their interest. We printed the documents... I was impressed..and am not overly concerned about having every word spelled correctly.  That will come later....I just want them to enjoy writing.
Time is always allotted for the children to play on one of their websites they enjoy..and this week it was www.abcya.com. They love to play the math games especially---having fun and improving math skills...that's pretty good.

Have a great week and weekend.

1st Grade Computers

It is very obvious that 1st graders like to write and seeing your name in print is so fun--for any age actually.  We have spent these past few weeks reviewing the special keys that were introduced in Kindergarten, writing our name--changing font sizes and colors, and then writing 3 sentences about ourselves and illustrating.  The first grade teachers were able to put these stories on their outside wall in the hall for Open House. The children are proud of their work, as they should be. We have also had fun on several websites, especially www.abcya.com.  Mrs. Jones' class worked with www.starfall.com this past week and enjoyed the 1st grade activities.  Our technology has added another tool for these students to progress at their own rate. I am so very proud of these children.

Have a hopefully cooler weekend.

Kindergarten Computers

We have been so busy this year in Kindergarten computer class.  The students remembered the procedures from last year, and our new students quickly followed their examples. After discussing where all we have computers for a class period, the last few weeks have been spent introducing functions of special keys like Enter, Space Bar, Backspace, Esc.  Some of the keys are used with our games, etc, but we wanted the students to know how to use these keys with our word processing program.  These skills will be practiced over and over as we write our words, our sentences and eventually our stories.  We have had some color sheets that go with each lesson just to remind us of our lesson.  Each week we also have a fun website the children always enjoy. Tablets are used in the classroom as well as in the lab.

Your children are so special.  Thank you for choosing
Ezell-Harding Christian School.

Have a wonderful long weekend.
