Guidance

Hello, EHCS Family!  This month we are concluding our Persona Safety Curriculum.  Students have gained an understanding in the difference between helpful strangers and harmful strangers.  Students are able to identify and assertively safeguard the private areas of their bodies.  Through story telling, role play, and modeling, students know how to vocalize their feelings if they are experiencing a good touch, bad touch, or confusing touch, as well as how to advocate for themselves and seek help when needed, with emphasis placed on not keeping secrets.

During the last nine weeks of school, we will be focusing on self-control, as students work towards gaining a better understanding of the grit and tenacity that is required to finish the school year strong.  We have many exciting upcoming events as we conclude our school year, and my goal is to reiterate that academic and behavior expectations must continue to be met.  It has been a pleasure working with your child, and I am excited to see the growth in their character.

My door is always open.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to stop by.

Pre-K 2-Mrs. Gibson

There are three words to describe Mrs. Gibson's 2 year old class and they are 'full of energy.' :) Their computer time is on Thursday and I am always welcomed by hugs  and kisses.  Our class begins by me calling their names while singing a little tune.  This always gets even more giggles..

I will then read a short story, followed by a You-tube video of their nursery rhyme of the week. After having a 'ring around the roses' game, the children will go to their table and the tablets will be distributed.  So many apps are installed on their tablets and after playing the assigned app, the children are free to choose their own. They definitely know how to use their pointer finger...

It is amazing to see how the children have grown physically throughout the year, but also how their attention span and their social skills have increased as well.

We are blessed to have these children at Ezell-Harding.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Music

We had a wonderful program, "The Grumps of Ring-A-Ding Town" on January 26 with the 1st and 2nd graders!  The 3rd and 4th graders are now working on their program set for Thursday, March 30, at 6:30pm in the HS gym.  It is called "Possibilities" with the theme being about the the wonderful opportunities and possibilities that everyone has to choose what they will do with their life when they grow up.  I hope you will come and support our students on March 30!  Our younger students have been keeping busy learning about the basic elements of music and basic rhythms.  Singing, moving, games and learning in fun ways are the best ways to learn about Music!

Coach Freud's PE Blog-Winter Edition

The Groundhog may have seen his shadow in Punxsutawney, but the weather is middle Tennessee has not been conductive to his prediction.  Warm days in the upper 50's, 60's, and 70's have prevailed for much of February, and elementary PE classes have taken advantage of the spring-like weather with visits to the playground.  During inclement days, the students have played indoor games like Two-ball Soccer, Eliminator (similar to Dodge ball only the ball must be kicked and not thrown), Home Run Derby, Line-tag, Noodle-tag, and Movement with Music on Fridays.

Fourth Grade Computers

Fourth graders continue to be very busy...their keyboarding skills improve every week...and they are always eager to learn something new.  This week the students investigated the presentation application called Emaze.  After a short tutorial video, the students were eager to begin their own fun presentation.  Exploring and collaborating with their friends made it even more fun.  The students will be making a presentation about 'weather' shortly. After appropriate research, students will be using their word processing skills and will be  able to create an amazing presentation in a short period of time.

I love to see the progress these students are making weekly.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Third Grade Computers

The Third Grade class comes to the lab on Tuesday afternoon. Even after a full day of class, these students are ready for more instructions.  Keyboarding is always our first assignment....the students practice on www.typingclub.com...this is obvious a life skill and I am so proud of these students for mastering this skill so early in their educational life.

February is Black History month, so the students each took one person to research and write a short paragraph about. Throughout the next few weeks, they will be able to orally present their person to the class... I am so very proud of their hard work.

Have a great weekend.
