Third Grade Computers

Third graders continue to be busy...from developing a timeline using Jackie Robinson's life to copying and pasting all the Presidents of the United States. Information was taken from www.americanhistory.about.com.  Each of these assignments were completed within their class period and printed.

Time is also allotted each class period for the students to continue to master their home row keys.

These students are busy ...I am very proud.

Have a great sunny weekend!!

Second Grade Computers

After a fun video from Brain Pop about President Abraham Lincoln, we saw another short video about symmetry.  Symmetry is all around us and discovering symmetrical objects just in the classroom was actually fascinating. Our website that was used this week was www.softschool.com, which gave us some challenging activities in Math/Geometry.  The students were asked to complete a symmetrical drawing by connecting dots, and then by actually drawing....an interesting and fun class period.

The weather looks to be nice this weekend....enjoy.

4th Grade-Computers

The snow was fun this week, but Ms. Clevenger's 4th graders were ready for class today. Since President's Day is Monday (school holiday for students), the students were given an assignment of researching a president and then writing a short paragraph about their subject.  They were encouraged to pick a president that they were not familiar with to learn something new.  We are using the website tntel.tnsos.org to gather our information. Learning how to find information, take notes and then transfer those notes into paragraph form is a skill that takes practice.  I was proud of the work the students did today--next week we will type our rough drafts and then print...assignment complete!

Did I also mention how proud I am of their keyboarding skills??

Have a good weekend and stay warm.

1st Grade Computer Class

Monday was the first day of February and our 1st Grade thoughts centered around Valentine's Day.  Children will be busy this week making their Valentines for their classmates, so our class time was spend having fun drawing Valentines on the computer.  Google drawings allows the students to be creative with their work.  An example was put on the screen showing the children 3 different fun ways to make a valentine drawing.  They were able to pick their choice and design their own drawing.  Using the 'shape' icon on this app made their work so much easier---and they look great.  Of course, they are displayed in the hall. We are having fun...and confidence and creativity continue to grow.

Have a wonderful weekend.
